The Yashica-Mat EM is one of the more unusual and stylish entries in the Yashica twin-lens reflex lineup, blending the classic waist-level 6x6 medium format shooting experience with a more modernized metering system and late-era industrial design.

Like other Yashica TLRs, the EM delivers everything people love about medium format twin-lens reflex cameras:

• Quiet leaf shutter operation
• Waist-level composition
• Beautiful vintage rendering
• A slower, more deliberate shooting experience

The Yashica-Mat series became especially popular because they offered a lot of the charm and usability of Rolleiflex cameras at a much more approachable price point. Even today, they remain fantastic entry points into medium format film photography.

This particular example has several optical and cosmetic issues but remains mechanically functional overall.

Condition: GOOD
This camera is functioning overall, including proper operation of the shutter, transport, and metering system. The photocell remains responsive and operational.

Please note the following condition issues:

• Fungus is present in both the viewing and taking lenses
• The meter readout cover glass has a chip present
• General cosmetic wear from age and use

The fungus may reduce contrast and introduce flare or softness depending on shooting conditions, particularly in strong backlight. Despite the optical issues, the camera remains operational and could still serve as a usable experimental shooter, restoration candidate, or collectible display piece.
