Yashica Mat 124 TLR 6x6 Medium Format Film Camera

The Yashica Mat-124 is one of the classic entry points into serious medium format photography and remains a favorite among photographers who want the waist-level TLR experience without jumping into Rolleiflex pricing. It shoots 6x6 square images on 120 film, producing large negatives with noticeably more detail and tonal information than 35mm.

The Mat-124 pairs a Yashinon 80mm f/3.5 taking lens with a separate viewing lens, so composing through the waist-level finder doesn't interrupt the exposure. The leaf shutter also makes the camera exceptionally quiet and allows flash synchronization across its shutter-speed range. For portraits, street photography, travel, and slower documentary work, it is a wonderfully satisfying camera to use.

One of the particularly useful features of the Mat-124 is its built-in light meter. This example's meter is still functioning and has been checked for accuracy, making it much easier to take out and shoot without carrying a separate handheld meter.
