Rollei 35 35mm Viewfinder Camera 40mm Tessar f/3.5 - Singapore Model

The Rollei 35 with 40mm f/3.5 Tessar is one of the all-time great pocketable film cameras. Somehow Rollei managed to squeeze a full-frame 35mm camera, a collapsible Zeiss-designed Tessar lens, mechanical controls, and a light meter into a body that is genuinely tiny. Even today, it feels like a wonderfully strange piece of precision engineering.

This is the Singapore-produced version of the Rollei 35, fitted with the classic 40mm f/3.5 Tessar. The 40mm focal length sits in a particularly nice spot between a traditional 35mm wide angle and 50mm normal lens, making it excellent for street photography, travel, landscapes, and everyday carry.

The Rollei 35 is a scale-focus camera rather than a rangefinder, so focusing is done by estimating distance and setting it directly on the lens. Once you get used to zone focusing, it makes the camera incredibly quick and discreet to shoot. The collapsible lens then tucks back into the body when you're done, resulting in one of the most pocketable serious 35mm cameras ever made.

This Rollei 35 is in excellent condition with minimal cosmetic wear and is fully functional. The shutter, film transport, aperture, focusing system, and controls are all operating properly.

The light meter is functional but consistently underexposes by approximately one stop. This is predictable and easy to compensate for by adjusting the ISO setting or exposure accordingly. The meter discrepancy is reflected in the condition description.
