The Pentax Takumar Bayonet 135mm f/2.8 is a compact manual-focus telephoto from Pentax’s K-mount era, offering a useful combination of extra reach, a relatively bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, and the wonderfully straightforward mechanical operation that makes vintage Pentax glass so enjoyable to shoot.

On a 35mm Pentax body, 135mm is a classic portrait and short-telephoto focal length. It gives you plenty of working distance for tighter portraits, candid photography, stage work, and compressed landscapes, while the f/2.8 aperture gives you good subject separation without requiring a giant lens in the bag.

The Takumar Bayonet designation is important here. This is a Pentax K-mount lens, rather than one of the earlier M42 screw-mount Takumars. It can be used directly on compatible Pentax K-mount film bodies and adapted easily to many modern mirrorless systems.
