The Pentax Takumar Bayonet 135mm f/2.5 is a classic manual-focus telephoto from the Pentax K-mount era, offering a fast f/2.5 maximum aperture and plenty of reach without becoming an enormous piece of glass. It’s a particularly nice option for portraits, compressed landscapes, stage photography, and anyone putting together an affordable vintage Pentax kit.

At 135mm, you get the classic short-telephoto perspective that was a staple of 35mm photography for decades. The relatively fast f/2.5 aperture gives you plenty of control over depth of field, with strong subject separation and nicely compressed backgrounds. It also makes the lens more useful in lower light than the slower 135mm lenses commonly bundled with vintage camera kits.

The Takumar Bayonet designation is worth noting when shopping. This is a Pentax K-mount lens, not one of the earlier M42 screw-mount Takumars, so buyers should make sure their camera or adapter is intended for the K bayonet mount.
