The Pentax K1000 + SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7 is about as classic as a 35mm film camera gets. Fully manual, mechanically straightforward, and built around Pentax’s excellent K-mount lens system, the K1000 has spent decades as the camera handed to photography students who actually want to learn what aperture, shutter speed, and focus are doing.

This example has received considerably more attention than the average K1000 on the used market. The camera has been serviced with a new meter wire installed, meter calibrated, prism cleaned, and new light seals fitted. The lens optics have also been cleaned, leaving only faint residual haze.

The included Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7 is a great match for the body. It’s compact, fast, and sharp while retaining the smooth manual focus feel that makes vintage Pentax glass such a pleasure to use. At 50mm, it’s an ideal do-everything lens for photography classes, street photography, portraits, travel, or just keeping one dependable lens on the camera.
