The Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 43-86mm f/3.5 is a genuinely interesting piece of Nikon history. Introduced when zoom lenses were still something of a novelty, the 43-86mm became one of Nikon’s early attempts at making a compact, practical standard zoom for everyday photography. Today it’s a fun piece of vintage Nikkor glass, particularly for shooters who enjoy older optics with rendering that feels distinctly different from modern zooms.

Its 43-86mm range covers everything from a slightly wide normal perspective through short telephoto, while the constant f/3.5 maximum aperture keeps operation consistent throughout the zoom range. It makes a particularly fun companion for classic Nikon F-mount bodies and can also be adapted to modern mirrorless cameras when you want some unmistakably old-school glass.

This is not the lens you buy because you want clinically perfect modern rendering. You buy it because you want a compact vintage Nikon zoom with plenty of character and a neat place in the history of the F-mount system.

Condition: EXCELLENT

This lens is in excellent overall condition with only normal minor signs of age and use. There is some internal dust present, but the optics otherwise present nicely.

The focusing helicoid is a hair stiff/tougher than ideal, though focusing remains fully functional. Zoom and aperture operation are functioning properly.

Overall, a clean and very usable example with a couple of minor age-related quirks clearly noted.
