The Nikon Nikkormat FTN + Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Ai is a wonderfully solid, old-school Nikon setup from the era when cameras were built with enough metal to double as personal defense equipment. The Nikkormat line brought much of Nikon’s professional F-series engineering into a more approachable body, and the FTN remains a favorite for photographers who want a straightforward, fully mechanical shooting experience.

This is the black finish version, which gives the already handsome FTN a particularly classic look. Paired with the compact Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Ai, it makes a great everyday 35mm setup. The 50mm focal length is equally at home shooting street photography, portraits, travel, or just documenting daily life, while the f/1.8 aperture gives you plenty of flexibility in lower light.

Because the FTN’s shutter is mechanically controlled, the dead meter does not turn the camera into a paperweight. Use a handheld meter or phone metering app and you can continue shooting it as a fully manual camera.

This camera shows normal signs of age and use and is being listed as a One-Off due to the non-functioning internal light meter. The shutter and other mechanical camera functions are operational, so the camera can still be used normally with an external meter.

The included Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Ai has slight internal haze, which may cause a modest reduction in contrast or additional glow and flare in strong backlighting. Focus and aperture functions operate properly.

This is a good user-grade setup for someone who doesn't mind metering externally and wants a classic black Nikkormat without paying extra for a cosmetically perfect shelf queen.
