The Minolta XG-7 + MD 50mm f/1.7 is a classic late-1970s Minolta setup that gives you a lot of the charm of the manual-focus Rokkor system without requiring an entirely manual shooting experience. The XG-7 combines aperture-priority auto exposure with manual control, making it a great everyday film SLR for newer shooters as well as anyone who just wants a lightweight vintage body with an excellent lens ecosystem behind it.

Paired with the Minolta MD 50mm f/1.7, you get a fast, compact normal lens that's well suited to portraits, street photography, travel, and general walkaround shooting. It's a quintessential Minolta combination: straightforward controls, a bright viewfinder, and a small 50mm prime that makes the whole setup easy to carry.

Condition: GOOD

This Minolta XG-7 is in good working condition with noticeable signs of age and use. The leatherette is shrinking from age, a cosmetic issue that does not interfere with operation.

The camera's light meter underexposes by approximately one stop, meaning it indicates an exposure that is one stop darker than the correct exposure. This can be compensated for by setting the film speed dial one stop lower than the actual film speed. For example, when shooting ISO 400 film, setting the camera to ISO 200 will compensate for the meter's offset when using automatic exposure.

Aside from this metering discrepancy, the camera is fully operational.

The included MD 50mm f/1.7 has slight internal haze. The lens remains fully functional, though the haze may cause a modest reduction in contrast or additional glow when shooting into strong light.

Included:

  • Minolta XG-7 35mm SLR

  • Minolta MD 50mm f/1.7 lens

This is a solid user-grade Minolta kit for someone who wants to actually put rolls through their camera rather than worry about keeping a shelf queen pristine. With a simple exposure compensation adjustment, it's ready to get back out shooting.
