Minolta Maxxum AF 70-210mm f/4 “Beercan” Lens – A-Mount Classic

The Minolta 70-210mm f/4, lovingly nicknamed the “Beercan” by the photo community, is one of the most iconic lenses of the 1980s Minolta AF lineup—and for good reason. With a solid, all-metal build and a constant f/4 aperture throughout the zoom range, it delivers excellent sharpness, rich Minolta color, and creamy bokeh that holds up even by today’s standards. This lens is a go-to for portraits, nature, and telephoto street photography, and pairs beautifully with both Minolta film bodies and Sony A-mount digital cameras.

Condition:
Excellent

This lens is in excellent condition, with optics that are clean and clear—free from scratches, haze, or fungus. The zoom and focus rings move smoothly and the aperture blades are snappy with no oil. Please note that the front and rear caps are not included, but replacements are easy to source.

Why You Need This Lens:
If you’re building a vintage Minolta AF kit or shooting Sony A-mount digital, the Beercan is one of those legendary lenses that truly lives up to the hype. It has that classic “Minolta look” with punchy color and surprisingly good sharpness wide open. It’s also one of the most affordable ways to get a constant aperture zoom with real character and tank-like build quality.
