Mamiya Auto Sears Sekor DX 28mm f/2.8 – M42 Wide Angle Prime Lens
The Mamiya Auto Sears Sekor DX 28mm f/2.8 is a compact, wide-angle prime lens in M42 screw mount, offering a classic 1970s optical rendering that’s well suited for everyday shooting, landscapes, street photography, and environmental portraits. It’s a great addition to any M42 kit—perfect for Spotmatics, Prakticas, or any screw-mount 35mm camera where you want a slightly wider-than-normal perspective without distortion.

Condition:
Good
This lens is in good condition with some noted optical imperfections. There is very light damage to the extreme edges of the front element coating, the result of previously cleaned fungus. This won’t grow back, and because the damage is well outside the image circle, it won’t impact photos. There is also a tiny bit of internal fog, which might slightly reduce contrast in extreme backlighting but shouldn’t cause noticeable degradation in most lighting situations. The focus is smooth, the aperture clicks solidly through all stops, and the blades are clean and dry.
⸻
Why You Want This Lens:
This is a great pick for anyone building out a vintage M42 kit and looking to add a reliable wide-angle lens on a budget. At 28mm, it gives you more room in your frame than a standard 50mm, without going ultra-wide. Perfect for travel, casual shooting, or rounding out a student photography setup with a lens that brings a bit of classic character to your shots.
