Kodak Reflex 1A 6x6 Medium Format 620 Film TLR Twin Lens Camera

The Kodak Reflex 1A is a fascinating piece of photographic history, representing a unique chapter in Kodak's foray into the world of twin-lens reflex (TLR) cameras. Produced from 1946 to 1951, this camera offered a more affordable and accessible entry point into medium format photography compared to the Rolleiflex and other high-end TLRs of the era.

While Kodak is primarily known for its roll film cameras and 35mm innovations, the company also ventured into the TLR market with a series of unique cameras. The Reflex 1A stands out as one of the more advanced models in this lineage. It features a diecast aluminum body, a departure from the predominantly Bakelite construction of earlier Kodak TLRs like the Reflex and Reflex II. This sturdy construction adds to the camera's durability and overall quality feel.

The Reflex 1A is equipped with a pair of Kodak Anastar 80mm f/3.5 lenses, known for their decent sharpness and pleasing rendering. These lenses, while not as renowned as the optics found on higher-end TLRs, are capable of producing excellent images with a classic Kodak character. The camera utilizes 620 film, a now-discontinued format that produced 6x6cm square images. While 620 film is no longer readily available, 120 film can be easily respooled onto 620 spools, allowing modern film to be used in this classic camera.

Condition Report:
Shutter does not fire below 1/30th. Works fine above that. Lens has some fog and some fungus damage. Viewfinder is actually amazing, super bright and easy to use. This is a useable camera if you are willing to get respooled 620 film.
