A color film born in the fire of feedback.

After the roaring debut of Harman’s first-ever color film in December 2023, the team at Mobberley listened closely to the analog community—your test rolls, your scans, your love, your critiques—and went back to the darkroom to reengineer it from the emulsion up. The result is Phoenix II: a completely overhauled version of the original, delivering everything we wanted more of from Gen 1—finer grain, better color, improved sharpness, and way easier scans.

Where the first Phoenix was punchy, contrasty, and sometimes unpredictable (and we kind of loved it for that), Phoenix II is far more refined. It’s still got some of that wild-child charm, but now it’s easier to shoot and delivers more consistent results across lighting conditions. You’ll notice smoother tones, expanded dynamic range, and more faithful color reproduction, especially in skin tones and shadow transitions.

Best of all? It’s 100% made in the UK by Harman (Ilford)—not just spooled there, but fully manufactured start to finish in Mobberley. No repackaged cinema stock, no mystery ingredients. Just a brand new color emulsion, crafted from scratch for the still photography community.

Whether you’re scanning at home or sending out to a lab, Phoenix II will give you more flexibility and better latitude in the shadows. And if you’re into the slightly experimental side of film, try under- or overexposing a stop—you’ll be surprised by how well it handles the push and pull.

Why Phoenix II?

• ISO 200 daylight-balanced color negative

• Improved color fidelity & skin tone rendering

• Noticeably finer grain than the original

• Better dynamic range and shadow detail

• Easier to scan, with less contrast buildup

• Fully manufactured by Harman Technology in the UK

• A true community-backed evolution of a modern classic

Shoot it, scan it, share it—this is a film made for the modern analog shooter.
