The Canon Auto Zoom 814 is one of the more serious Super 8 cameras from Canon’s classic movie-camera era, pairing a fast 8x zoom lens with automatic exposure and powered zoom in a wonderfully substantial, all-metal-feeling package. These were built when Super 8 was a real filmmaking format rather than just a nostalgia machine, and the 814 still feels like proper production gear in the hand.

For modern shooters, it’s a great platform for music videos, experimental projects, fashion work, family films, or anyone chasing the texture and motion of actual Super 8 rather than another digital emulation. This example is functional but has a couple of notable issues, making it best suited to someone comfortable working around vintage-camera quirks.

The camera is in good used condition and functions overall. The powered zoom motor is weak, so buyers should expect reduced or inconsistent performance from the motorized zoom function.

There is also fungus present within the center lens elements. Because this fungus is located closer to the central image-forming area, it has greater potential to reduce contrast, increase flare, or introduce softness than fungus limited to the extreme edges of the optics. The camera remains usable, but buyers should account for the optical condition when shooting.

The camera includes a Canon-branded carrying case, which is a nice addition for storage and transport.
