Canon AE-1 35mm SLR Film Camera + 50mm f/1.8 Lens

The Canon AE-1 + FD 50mm f/1.8 remains one of the quintessential ways to get into 35mm film photography. It combines Canon’s classic manual-focus FD system with shutter-priority auto exposure and full manual control, making it approachable for newer film shooters without taking away the hands-on experience that makes these cameras fun.

The included 50mm f/1.8 FD lens is an ideal everyday companion. It’s compact, fast enough for available-light shooting, and gives you the classic normal-lens perspective that works for portraits, street photography, travel, and general walkaround shooting.

This particular AE-1 has a few quirks and optical imperfections, so we’re selling it as a One-Off rather than one of our standard-condition cameras. Importantly, the issues are clearly identifiable and the camera remains functional.

Condition: ONE-OFF

This Canon AE-1 is noticeably used and has several condition issues. There is a chip in the viewfinder, which is visible while composing but does not affect the photographs themselves.

The plastic friction washer associated with the film advance lever is missing, so the advance lever has a little more play than normal. The lever and film advance mechanism still function properly, and the looseness does not prevent normal operation.

The included 50mm f/1.8 FD lens has minimal haze and a small amount of fungus near the edge of the optics. These defects may slightly reduce contrast or increase flare under challenging lighting, particularly when shooting toward strong light sources.

Otherwise, the camera is fully operational and ready to shoot. For someone who cares more about making photos than having a cosmetically perfect AE-1, this is a solid user-grade kit with plenty of life left in it.
