Canon AE-1 35mm SLR Film Camera + 50mm f/1.8 Lens

The Canon AE-1 + FD 50mm f/1.8 is about as classic as a 35mm SLR setup gets. The AE-1 helped put serious photography into the hands of a huge generation of shooters, combining straightforward manual controls with shutter-priority automatic exposure and access to Canon’s enormous FD lens system. It remains a great choice for photography students, first-time film shooters, or anyone who wants a simple everyday SLR that still feels properly analog.

The included Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 is the quintessential everyday prime for the system. It’s compact, fast enough for available-light shooting, and gives you the classic 50mm perspective with plenty of room for shallow depth of field. More importantly, this particular lens has received some unusually involved optical restoration work. The affected cemented optical group was professionally split, cleaned to remove the haze, and then optically cemented back together. Rather than leaving a hazy vintage lens alone, someone actually went through the trouble of properly addressing it.

Condition: GOOD

This camera is fully functional but shows more than average cosmetic wear. There is a small scuff near the corner of the focusing screen, which is visible through the finder but does not affect photographs. The bottom cover plate and inside of the film door also have initials and numbers etched into them from a previous owner.

The included 50mm f/1.8 lens has been professionally serviced to address its previous haze. The affected cemented optical group was separated, cleaned, and cemented back together. The lens is fully functional and ready to shoot.

Overall, this is a cosmetically well-used but nicely sorted AE-1 kit, with a particularly noteworthy amount of work having gone into restoring the lens rather than simply passing along old optical haze.
