Canon A-1 35mm SLR Film Camera + 50mm f/1.8 nFD Lens

The Canon A-1 + 50mm f/1.8 nFD lens is one of the great combinations from Canon's golden era of 35mm film photography. Introduced in 1978, the A-1 was an incredibly advanced camera for its time, offering a level of exposure automation that helped bridge the gap between traditional mechanical SLRs and the electronically controlled cameras that would follow.

What makes the A-1 particularly appealing today is its versatility. With Program AE, aperture-priority, shutter-priority, and full manual exposure modes, it's equally at home in the hands of someone learning film photography or an experienced shooter who wants complete creative control. It's a camera you can grow into without feeling like you've outgrown it six months later.

The included Canon nFD 50mm f/1.8 is an excellent everyday lens, offering a fast maximum aperture for available-light photography, beautiful subject separation, and sharp results when stopped down. It's a great focal length for portraits, street photography, travel, and just about anything else you might want to shoot on 35mm film.

The A-1 also has that unmistakable late-70s Canon aesthetic, with its black finish, substantial build quality, and wonderfully tactile controls. Pair it with a roll of Portra 400 or HP5 and you've got a setup that's hard not to love.

Condition: GOOD

This Canon A-1 is in good condition with noticeable cosmetic wear consistent with its age and use. The body shows some finish wear and brassing along the bottom plate, but remains in good working order overall.

The camera's light meter reads accurately, and the shutter, film advance, and exposure controls are functioning properly.

The included 50mm f/1.8 nFD lens has mild internal haze, which may cause a slight reduction in contrast or increased flare when shooting into strong light sources. The lens remains fully usable, and the haze should have relatively little impact on most everyday shooting situations.

Overall, this is a great user-grade Canon A-1 kit for someone who wants a capable, ready-to-shoot film camera without paying a premium for pristine cosmetics.
