The Canon EOS 7D + EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is a seriously capable DSLR kit from the era when Canon APS-C cameras were absolute workhorses. Built around an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, the 7D was positioned as a high-performance body with fast continuous shooting, a robust autofocus system, substantial controls, and a rugged magnesium-alloy body. It remains a great option for photography students, hobbyists, sports shooters, and anyone who wants a lot of camera for relatively little money.

The included Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS makes this an especially versatile one-lens setup. Its range covers roughly a 29-216mm full-frame equivalent field of view, taking you from moderately wide scenes through portraits and well into telephoto territory. Image stabilization makes the longer end considerably easier to use handheld, and the broad zoom range means you can head out with one lens instead of carrying half a camera bag.

For someone getting into DSLR photography, this kit offers a lot of room to grow. You get full manual control, Canon's enormous EF/EF-S lens ecosystem, an optical viewfinder, and plenty of physical controls without needing to live inside menus.
