The AE-1 helped put serious photography into the hands of a huge generation of shooters, combining straightforward manual controls with shutter-priority automatic exposure and access to Canon’s enormous FD lens system. It remains a great choice for photography students, first-time film shooters, or anyone who wants a simple everyday SLR that still feels properly analog.

The included Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 is the quintessential everyday prime for the system. It’s compact, fast enough for available-light shooting, and gives you the classic 50mm perspective with plenty of room for shallow depth of field. More importantly, this particular lens has received some unusually involved optical restoration work. The affected cemented optical group was professionally split, cleaned to remove the haze, and then optically cemented back together. Rather than leaving a hazy vintage lens alone, someone actually went through the trouble of properly addressing it.

Condition: GOOD

This camera is fully functional but shows more than average cosmetic wear.
